SHELBURNE FALLS Director of Pupil Personnel Services Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree, Graduate degree in related services. Internship in the field for direct experience. Appropriate Massachusetts certification. Special knowledge of the Federal and State regulations governing educational services to the disabled. Competency in working with professionals in medical and social services agencies. Knowledge and understanding of assessment, behavioral, and determination procedures. Such alternative or substitutive to the above qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable. Personal: Possess leadership and management skills that encourage good human relations among school staff, students, parents, and school community. Understands School Committee administration and District Operation in delivery of service to students. Responsibilities include: Supervise special educators on psychological services. Oversee evaluation plans where psychological services are needed. Understand complete behavioral, attentional, emotional, and intelligence testing/assessment necessary for educational planning, and special education accommodations using appropriate measures in accordance with Massachusetts laws and regulations. Assist teachers, parents, and administration in understanding report findings, assessment results, and recommendations. Provide short-term cognitive, brief, behavioral, strategic, and crisis counseling administration for students. Assist in referral for therapy/crisis and family needs. Serve as consultant to assist with students, parents, teachers and administration in addressing related counseling issues, and for managing any school crisis situations. Assist teachers/administration with educational planning, and in behavioral classroom planning and intervention. Assist teams in the assessment process. Act as consultant with behavioral specialist, integration specialist, instructional aides and/or intern to assist with accomplishing the educational goals of the students. Advocate for rights and welfare of students. Consult and collaborate with counselors, classroom teachers, administrators, specialists, and teams in developing and implementing specialized programs to address social, emotional, behavioral, educational, and other issues and needs of students. Provide training for staff and parents in the area of needs identified by counselors, classroom teachers, administrators, specialists, and teams. Collaborate with interagency teams. Serve as liaison among school, school community, medical, and related professions. Review and make recommendations regarding home schooling programs.
