North Shore Bank Mortgage Loan Originator (Saugus, MA ) in Saugus, Massachusetts

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Senior Vice President Retail Lending Manager the mortgage loan originator (MLO) provides a financial service to the public, focusing exclusively on obtaining loans secured by residential real estate in accordance with established bank policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent the bank in a professional manner, providing exceptional quality, service, and advice to potential customers.

  • Counsel and explain products, rate, terms, and payment amounts to the customer. Provide all the necessary information, analysis, and comparisons to assist applicants with the application process and make sound financial decisions in the applicant’s best interest.

  • Complete mortgage applications and provide initial disclosures including the Loan Estimate (LE)as required on all new applications, Complete and assist borrowers with the rate lock agreement/process.

  • Guide all borrowers through the closing process including a complete review of the Closing Disclose (CD).

  • Guide first-time homebuyers through the application and mortgage process and conduct education seminars at least once per year.

  • Maintain contact with pre-qualification/pre-approvals on a regular basis.

  • Generate new mortgage business through approved promotional activities and expand new mortgage commitment to meet local mortgage needs.

  • Develop community, agency, and other external business relationships that will affirm the bank’s commitment to meet local mortgage needs.

  • Work outside the office representing North Shore Bank at business development functions and community events, as approved or directed by the bank.

  • Assist in mortgage related workshops, expos, or other industry functions or organizations, as directed by the bank.

  • Adhere to all bank policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of bank products and regulations by attending all required training, meetings, and completing required courses. Keep abreast of residential and consumer loan products and the applicable State and Federal regulations and compliance issues. Comply fully with all federal and state local laws and regulations, policies and procedures, including but not limited to the S.A.F.E. Act and its registration, renewal and updating requirements.

  • Analyze each applicant’s loan and deposit relationship with the Bank, reviewing how various Bank products may address an applicant’s banking needs and ensuring that any appropriate cross sale opportunities have been undertaken.

  • Performs additional duties as requested.

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate, or related field

  • A current valid Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license

  • 3+ years’ experience in mortgage lending and/or a financial services environment

  • Mortgage banking background with a proven track record of success

  • Proven sales ability with established relationship contacts in our territories

  • Strong analytic, negotiation, time management, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make presentations.

  • Ability to educate borrowers on loan products and processes.

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to the mortgage-banking industry

  • Strong knowledge of the Secondary Market Guidelines
