EBSCO Information Services Sr Agile Product Owner in Remote, Massachusetts

Your Opportunity

Product Owner will join the EBSCO FOLIO product team developing a next generation enterprise wide library management system that provides the services required for daily workflows to support operation. Working with the development team & external software contractor teams, the Product Owner is expected to understand what type of work all teams are responsible for and how that work is carried out.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to shape the vision and requirements of new platform components and features – Act an evangelist for the platform, sharing information both internally and externally to help ensure the success of the platform

  • Able to internalize broader platform strategy such that it informs platform specifications and feature priorities – Work with customers to understand personas, use cases, and market landscape

  • Customer engagement – Conduct proactive reach-outs, coordinate with Sales to establish a communication channel with customers to enable their adoption, assist them with promoting adoption among their users

  • Market Feedback tracking – Maintain inventory of Customer-generated and User-generated feedback. Troubleshoot/triage service issues reported by customers and end-users (internal and external). Determine pervasiveness and impact of market-driven issues and map those to product roadmap & prioritization

  • Work as an embedded resource to one or more scrum teams –Works both within teams and across the organization coordinating with colleagues to ensure the ultimate integrity of platform capabilities between different modules/apps and teams/organizations

  • Responsible for the creation and acceptance of user stories – Produce clear, detailed and measurable product requirements including business rules, process flows and user scenarios; test upon completion to ensure the requirements have been met

  • Work closely with user experience designers, software developers, the product manager and other product owners to provide guidance to the development of new features and functionality

  • Monitors and makes recommendations for improvement of platform capabilities as well as software development lifecycle processes and tools – Assist with shaping and improving processes as both a stakeholder and consumer of these processes

  • Occasional travel possible

Your Team

You will be welcomed as a member of the FOLIO Product Management team (a team of about 20 people) and the larger Product Management organization. About You

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Product Owner creating and accepting user stories to produce clear, detailed and measurable product requirements including business rules, process flows and user scenarios.

  • Must be experienced and comfortable presenting stakeholder updates to groups of customers in a professional manner

  • Must be experienced in leading discussions with customers to define and track critical feedback about problems they face on a daily basis

  • Must have cataloging knowledge and experience with cataloging standards and the library OPAC / Research experience

  • This position requires a public trust clearance. Applicants must be able to obtain or currently hold a public trust clearance

What Sets You Apart

  • Desire to build innovative services and change the library industry

  • Deep understanding of tools and platforms used for managing library metadata and providing access to archives, special collections, rare books, and digital collections

  • Experience with metadata standards and schemas for special collections, including Dublin Core and Encoded Archival Description

  • Knowledge of linked data principles and technologies

  • Familiarity with the handling and description of archives, rare books, and other special materials

  • Ability to collaborate with librarians, archivists, and other information science experts

  • Effective presentation skills, outstanding written communication skills, able to inspire confidence of colleagues, and raise and answer key questions

  • Highly effective at working with remote colleagues, including across time zones and with varied cultural backgrounds

Our Offer to you

Target Annual Compensation Range: $85,635 - $122,335

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
