Role Summary:

Reporting to the E2E Product Management Leader within Global Technical Operations- Joints Platform, the Senior Supply Chain Launch Manager- Knees is accountable for end-to-end supply chain aspects of New Product Development and Introduction for the Knees Product Platform.

The individual in this role is expected to provide leadership cross-functionally in support of developing supply chain performance and capabilities for Joints-Knees NPIs. The individual will drive programs of high complexity, high business impact, and visibility in support of the Knees Product Platform goals. Through both direct and cross-functional resources, new product accountabilities extend to supply chain project planning and resourcing, ensuring deployment of DfM, DtV processes, supplier/site selection, design transfer to internal/external manufacturing, qualification and validation processes, strategic launch planning including inventory and distribution process readiness and supply stabilization. Major points of collaboration will include R&D, Global Growth Marketing, all Supply Chain and Procurement functions, Quality, Regulatory and the J&J Enterprise Supply Chain teams.

This leader will also be a member of the E2E Joints Product Management Leadership Team and part of the Knees Platform Value Stream Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Introducing new Knee products that make ‘supply chain sense’, on-time, cost, quality and service level. Develop manufacturing & business strategies and accelerate launch of new products.

  • Lead launch execution, Supply Chain Readiness (SCR) and NPI end-to-end value as an Orchestrator, leading the cross-functional teams through standardized launch management processes and ensuring strong functional accountability. Represent Supply Chain in the NPD Stage Gate process – accountable for decision rights in the value stream and the entire supply chain

  • Influence key product development attributes (such as: manufacturability, sustainability, controls/process capability, network/capacity planning, inventory optimization) to achieve targeted quality, reliability, cost and growth goals.

  • Direct a team of SMEs to ensure product/process needs for assigned NPD projects are identified and communicated to the NPD team. Identify risks and work with the team to assure mitigations are completed during the development phase.

  • As a people manager, provide development opportunities and mentorship and use J&J performance management processes to grow a successful, diverse organization where individuals reach their personal aspirations.

  • Support the Knee Platform Leadership Team to link supply chain strategies to commercial strategic priorities, influence product design and portfolio decisions and assure cross-functional alignment

  • Prioritize NPD projects in consultation with partners

  • Build and maintain strong integration with R&D, Quality and Supply Chain so that business requirements are translated into enabling systems & processes, equipment roadmaps and manufacturing methods that will allow for speed, simplicity and external focus.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or University equivalent) is required, with a degree in Engineering, Science, Supply Chain or a related field preferred

  • MBA or other advanced degree prefered

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Must posses strong communication, leadership, management and teamwork qualities

  • Proven track record in building strong cross-functional teams with deep trust that can achieve in the face of challenges and constraints is essential to success

  • Demonstrated ability to think globally and strategically with high business insight and discernment, form strategic plans and influence executive management cross-functionally

Preferred:

  • Experience in leading a team with direct reports

  • Prior experience with new product development processes and practices

  • Orthopedics or the medical device industry

  • Knowledge of and experience in applying Six Sigma and/or Lean methodologies

  • Project management methodology certification (e.g., PMP/PMI, FPX)

Other:

  • May require up to 25% domestic and international travel
