J&J MedTech is currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineering NPI Joints Co-Op (Fall 2025) for our site located in Raynham, Massachusetts. This position requires the candidate to be onsite in the Raynham, MA office.

This Co-Op position will be an integral part of the Supply Chain Technical Operations’ new product initiative (NPI) manufacturing team. This role will support new product initiatives of Implant and Instrument programs from a manufacturing engineering perspective focused on externally sourced products across our MedTech Joints Reconstruction platforms in a professional and efficient manner.

This individual will be responsible for supporting operational excellence and engaging with partners to facilitate timely delivery with alignment to the supply chain strategy. Candidates must be self-motivated, embrace personal challenges and passionate about advancing their own knowledge through continuous learning, independent investigation, and observation.

In addition, candidates must be capable of working as part of a management team to share ideas, make recommendations, and implement continuous improvement activities in support of company operational strategies and customer requirements and needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project core team (PCT) members with project timelines, project budgets, development of detailed manufacturing process plans with identified manufacturing equipment/technology selected and assess/implement optimization activities as required.

  • Collaborate on the Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/A) reviews with Product Development core team to enhance manufacturability and reduce product cost.

  • Conduct process development and feasibility studies with external suppliers assessing process capabilities while ensuring robust and optimized processes are developed.

  • Present process development results with project core team members and communicate effectively within project team and to engineering management on process development progress.

  • Work closely with Quality, Sourcing, and Product Development on identifying and qualifying critical to function and quality dimensions as well as supporting quality activities, such as process capability studies, components of variation (COV), and GR&R studies, ensuring process stabilization is met for product launches.

  • Work across platforms to design and develop proof-of-concept solutions while implementing technologies to drive customer-centric innovation.

  • Maintain compliance and follow company guidelines/policies related to all Health, Safety, and Environmental practices.

  • Communicate technical reviews and business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level as required.

  • Ensure personal and company compliance with all federal, state, local and company regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Perform other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Enrolled in a 4-year Engineering curriculum.

  • Completion of undergraduate Freshmen year at an accredited University.

Required:

  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and initiatives while achieving results.

  • Self-starter who works independently while contributing to the project team’s objectives.

  • Knowledge of common engineering analysis tools (such as statistical process control) and reporting mechanisms.

  • Strong verbal and communication skills.

  • Able to commute 5 days / week to the facility located in Raynham, Ma.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in GMP manufacturing, medical devices, or FDA related activities.

  • Proven experience with Project Management.

  • Exposure to manufacturing techniques, materials science and process protocols and reporting results.

  • Knowledge of Process Excellence / Six Sigma statistical analysis techniques and its application in manufacturing processes.

Applicable pay range : $22.00 per hour to $51.50 per hour

The anticipated base pay for this position is between $22.00 per hour and $51.50 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. This position is overtime eligible. Intern/Co-ops may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs such as medical insurance, sick time, holiday pay, and the Company’s consolidated retirement plan in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
