40hpw; 8 hour shifts (8:30a-5p); every other weekend and rotating holidays

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs physical therapy treatment procedures following treatment programs/plans established by the Physical Therapist.

  • Follows established procedures and observes appropriate safety precautions in the application of heat, cold, light, sound, water, electricity, traction, massage and therapeutic exercise.

  • Teaches patients and family when necessary, therapeutic exercises, body mechanics, use of adaptive equipment, ambulation with assistive devices, ADLs, use of wheelchairs, transfer techniques and special routines and/or programs.

  • Assists the Physical Therapist in performing special tests and/or evaluations as needed.

  • Maintain medical records with daily documentation of all care provided.

  • Supervise and evaluate the function and technical performance of Aides and PTA students as needed.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Associate Degree from a Physical Therapist Assistant program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.

  • One or two years of Physical Therapy clinical experience.

Registration/Certification:

  • P.T.A. License.

  • AHA BLS certification

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
