Guardian Life Senior Software Engineer - MAGIC Software in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop new annuity products, improve existing products with new rider features, and be involved in production support for the annuity policy administration system, Transcend. You will be working in a Kanban environment and leading a product by understanding business requirement and refining it for further development. Your Annuity business knowledge will help in communicating with business leaders.

You Are:

  • A self-starter senior developer who can transform conceptual thoughts into multiple possible approaches. The person should be able to work with the Product Owner and business partners such as Accounting, Finance, Investment, Actuaries, and Operations to understand business requirements and develop Annuity products.

You Will:

  • Work with business partners, business analysts, and product owner to design and build product.

  • Work with system administrators such as Database, Unix, Windows, Securities to ensure product design follows Guardian standards.

  • Ensure all features are identified and facilitate, handle, and distribute product changes among developers.

  • Guide developers in development and integration.

  • Collaborate with leaders to refine and estimate epics for business priority.

You Have:

  • Successful development experience in policy administration system using programming language Magic.

  • Over ten years of design and development of databases such as Oracle.

  • Must have programming experience with Unix shell scripts.

  • Must have working experience in Transcend system.

  • Working experience of development methodology such as Agile.

  • Open attitude for continuous improvement and to align with business initiatives.

  • Loma certification in Annuity is preferred.

Location & Travel:

  • Hybrid- 2 days a week at a Guardian Office in Holmdel, NJ, Bethlehem, Pa, New ork NY or Pittsfield, MA.

Salary Range

$91,260.00 - $149,925.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
