Scenic Carpenters Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking a Scenic Carpenter to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. This position assists in the construction of scenic elements for productions on our Boyd-Quinson Stage, and St Germain Stage. This position requires a dedicated individual with knowledge of scenery building techniques and the willingness to work as part of a team and follow through on individual projects. Responsibilities: - Communicate with supervisors to accurately execute the artistic designs through high quality scenic building for all of BSC\'s 2024 season\'s productions - Properly care for scene shop tools and equipment, to ensure they are in safe and proper working order and properly cleaned and put away after use - Keep the scene shop and storage areas clean and free of debris and sweep up after completing each project and at the end of the day - Work with supervisors and staff to safely and efficiently load-in and strike scenery - Arrive on time and ready to work, and follow all health and safety guidelines in place - Attend shop meetings as required Skills: - Ability to read and understand blueprints and follow directions - Working knowledge of scenic construction techniques and materials - Ability to skillfully operate a variety of pneumatic and electric hand tools as well as stationary tools, including table saws, bandsaws, panel saws, miter saws and sanders - Working knowledge of welding and rigging - Working knowledge of shop tools and equipment - Able to lift up to 50 pounds and comfortable working at heights This position reports to the Technical Director, Assistant Technical Director and Lead Carpenter. It is full-time, seasonal position. Dates: 6/29/2024 through 8/12/2024 Pay is \$17.50 an hour, with housing included.
