Spectrum Plastics Group Manufacturing Engineer in Pittsfield, Massachusetts
JOB PURPOSE: To integrate or improve manufacturing systems or related processes relative to Injection Mold Processing/Production/Validation. Provide project, status feedback to management team. Emphasis on Continuous Improvement driving positive change throughout the manufacturing processes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Perform Manufacturing Engineering projects as assigned - Execute Lean/6-Sigma disciplines focusing on Continuous Improvement - Implementing creative ideas in the process of manufacturing and understanding the technicalities related with the products - Hands-on approach on improving the manufacturing process by implementing engineering concepts and optimizing the production of the products - Support Validation Team in transitioning new programs to production including manufacturing line, secondary operations and production planning - Configuring the products and providing manufacturing specifications to the teams involved in documentation to help prepare guides and instructions - Reviewing the cost of the products by analyzing the cost of raw material and overall production cost - Working with the manufacturing department and help them understand the technical concepts that should be looked after during the manufacturing process of the products - Working closely with the quality assurance team to make sure that the product is meeting the quality constraints as well - Identify and/or Lead Continuous Improvement/Lean Projects either individually or with team - Gather information for capital equipment needs, create and budget for Return on Investment and/or positive efficiency return - Participate in NCR/Continuous Improvement meetings as required - Visit Customers to support manufacturing engineering efforts as required - Support sales initiatives and programs as required - Interact positively with all Apex personnel - Ensure that all safety procedures are followed. - Ensure that all equipment safeties are not altered or defeated. - Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Experience/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Required: - Bachelor\'s Degree or equivalent, or 5-7 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience - Prior experience in Lean Manufacturing Disciplines - Prior experience in Injection Mold Processing preferred - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Technical Drawings and technical information documents - Create technical documents for use in the Injection Molding, other departments, and APEX Customers - Ability to write and professionally present technical information to small groups - Should be creative and should possess ability to use modern technology in the manufacturing process - Familiar with the manufacturing process and concepts that are followed traditionally - Possess strong computer, mathematical, reading, writing skills - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. - Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information, electronic data, drawings and data in an efficient manner. - Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. - Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. - Must be able to climb up and down stairs. - Support cross functional teams and departments as required. - Perform job duties in accordance to ISO 13485/9001 including ISO audits. - Travel is required to support company initiatives.
