Berkshire Health Systems Home Health Aide in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION he Home Health Aide is a trained paraprofessional who functions in a complimentary or assistive role under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Pathologist following a plan of care to provide care to the patient in the home. The Home Health Aide provides direct patient care and carries out individual duties for patients in accordance with policies and procedures of Berkshire Medical Center/Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and CMS\' Home Health Conditions of Participation POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.) A. Experience: Patient care experience preferred. B. Education and Training: High School diploma or equivalent with completion of a certified Home Health Aide training program (*see important requirement below) or be a current Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry and with less than a 24 month lapse in providing these services for compensation. C. License, Certification & Registration: Active and valid driver\'s license and access to a vehicle to enable work throughout Berkshire County is required. CPR Certification required. D. Other Requirements: If qualifying via a Home Health Aide training program Home health aide training must include classroom and supervised practical training in a practicum laboratory or other setting in which the trainee demonstrates knowledge while providing services to an individual under the direct supervision of registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse who is under the supervision of a registered nurse. Classroom and supervised practical training must total at least 75 hours. A minimum of 16 hours of classroom training must precede a minimum of 16 hours of supervised practical training as part of the 75 hours. Patient care information systems, fax, copier, telephone, mechanical lifts and any other equipment vital to care of patients.
