Guardian Life Claims Learning and Development Leader in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

In this role, you will lead team members to design, develop and deliver highly targeted learning services for IM Claims colleagues. They will establish a strategic partnership with Claims leadership and internal business partners to develop a long-range vision and strategy that makes the best use of emerging technologies to effectively lead the design, development, and delivery of training programs and curricula across individual life, disability and annuity products, processes, and claims.

You will:

  • Actively lead a team of learning professionals

  • Supervise the design, development, and delivery of training programs, curricula, and services for dedicated business partners, including technical and professional training.

  • Remain informed of environmental and industry trends by monitoring industry news and pertinent research reports.

  • Partner with Claims Leadership, including Quality Assurance, to conduct training needs analysis across business areas to provide proactive L&D solutions with a focus on addressing measurable colleague development.

  • Develop a highly targeted training strategy that addresses the current and projected training needs of business areas.

  • Use data to identify emerging patterns, summarize results, and provide recommendations for actions to address gaps, potential opportunities, and performance concerns.

  • Continuously assess and measure training programs to ensure efficiency and engagement

  • Ensure L&D team members are equipped with the appropriate skills and knowledge to be effective, consultative business partners focused on adult learning.

  • Partner closely with Instructional Technologists to develop digital content.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Instructional Design and Technology, Training and Development, Communication, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years successfully managing a training team or leading developmentally focused initiatives.

  • Solid understanding of learning and development methodologies; formal design and development approaches, adult learning standard methodologies, industry training technologies used to deploy, maintain, and monitor learning.

  • Strong familiarity with training technology as it relates to design and development (i.e., Articulate, Captivate, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.), video and audio production (i.e., Adobe CC) and learning management systems.

  • Knowledge of insurance industry products, systems and business expertise preferred but not required.

  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills, and an aptitude for public speaking.

  • Ability to develop cross-business connections and build collaborative relationships.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to the Senior Manager, IM Claims, who, in turn, reports to the Head of Claims, Individual Markets.

Location:

  • Hybrid role - 2 days in office, 3 days WFH in the Pittsfield, MA or Bethlehem, PA office.

  • Travel – 0-10%

Salary Range

$82,660.00 - $135,805.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
