Associate Costume Shop Supervisor Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking an Associate Costume Shop Supervisor to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. This position assists the costume shop supervisor and supports the costume staff for productions on our Boyd-Quinson Stage and St Germain Stage. This position requires an organized and detail-oriented individual with the willingness to work as part of a team and the ability to execute costume designs to a high standard. Responsibilities: - Read scripts and learn all aspects of the costume plot - Consult with the Costume Designer and Costume Shop Supervisor to pull costumes from stock for fittings and coordinate with SM staff to pull needed rehearsal garments from stock - Research costume availability from nearby and/or other regional theatres and costume rental houses as requested by the Costume Designer or Costume Shop Supervisor - In coordination with the Costume Designer and/or Costume Shop Supervisor, order or purchase clothes, shoes, accessories, supplies, notions, fabric, tools, and materials. - Track expenditures for each show including check requests, credit or debit card purchases, petty cash expenditures, and credits from returns. Keep all receipts and invoices organized. - Attend fittings and keep accurate notes on the fitting session including any necessary alterations and take photos of finished costumes to archive the final look. - Assist Costume Designer during tech rehearsals, keep accurate and up-to-date notes, communicate tech notes to costume shop staff, and help deliver costume pieces to and from the shop and theater. - Maintain the costume \"bible\" for each show including photos of each final look, fabric samples if constructed in the shop, notes on type and color of dye if used on garments, photos of jewelry and accessories, and where costumes were rented, borrowed or purchased along with the measurement sheet for each cast member. - Assist in the construction of costumes and accessories as needed. - Help keep costume shop and costume storage areas clean and free of debris. - Help maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Follow all health and safety guidelines established by the theatre. Report any unsafe conditions or practices to your supervisor immediately. - Assist with making returns of unused garments to vendors. - Assist in returning rented and borrowed costumes and restocking items in costume storage as needed Skills: - Exceptional communication and organizational skills and strong attention to detail - Strong knowledge of costume history and period - Strong knowledge of costume construction techniques and materials - Working knowledge of costume shop tools and equipment - Online research and purchasing experience - Accounting experience tracking expenses and credits - Knowledge of locations and inventories of local fabric and clothing stores - Able to lift at least 30 lbs. - Valid driver\'s license with clean driving record This position reports to the Costume Shop Supervisor. It is full-time, seasonal position Contract: 4/20/2025 through 9/21/2025 Salary of \$900 per week, exempt, with housing included.
