Advocates JDP Recovery Support Navigator in Pepperell, Massachusetts
Overview
Starting rate $17.31-19.23/hr
This position provides supportive treatment and direct care to individuals, families, and support systems. Position requires the individual to exhibit flexibility and independence of work performance and demonstrate good relational skills and judgment; organizational skills and patience in the face of a changing work environment and varied work responsibilities; and self-awareness and ability to process issues that arise from the stressful nature of the individual and family work
This is a 20 hour a week position
Minimum Education Required
Associate's Degree
Responsibilities
Form meaningful positive relationships with individuals and families served through the agency.
Maintain appropriate boundaries with individuals, families and collaterals.
Demonstrate flexibility, creativity and comfort in working with individuals and families with a broad range of diagnoses and emotional issues.
Demonstrate ability to work as a team with other program staff (as well as independently) in order to aid in the delivery of therapeutically indicated approaches to all individual and family /staff interactions.
Clearly articulate, formulate and document in writing progress toward treatment goals and risk factors.
Develop working relationships with collateral resources, police officers, and community service providers.
Work flexible hours which may include evenings and weekends as needed.
Be aware of diverse cultures and belief systems; willing to be flexible and examine one’s own cultural biases; and ensure that work with youth/family members and community representatives is done within a cultural context.
Understand the principles of recovery and have an understanding of various treatment modalities/options to include Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Participate in the assessment and ongoing evaluation of individuals and families.
Assist in the formalization, monitoring and revision of treatment goals for individuals and families
Utilize insights gained in supervision and in team meetings to determine interventions and treatment strategies.
Assist individuals and families in finding areas of competency and developing psychosocial skills.
Assist individuals in development of their daily living skills and, if applicable, provide independent living education to transitional age adolescents.
Assist individuals and families in gaining control over and insight into their behavior.
Become familiar with systemic issues facing individuals and families and provide ongoing monitoring of any safety concerns
Assist in developing creative and proactive approaches to individuals’ and families’ crisis patterns and help address their problems before they develop into crises.
Develop a healthy working relationship with police, other collaterals, and community resources involved with individuals and families
Involve outside providers in a collaborative effort to implement treatment strategies that respond to individuals’ and families’ needs.
Assist individuals and families in locating and obtaining community based services and conducting self-advocacy.
Assist and support individuals in their individual recovery
Present cases for review both in a team setting and as part of stakeholder meetings.
Be thoroughly versed in all procedures necessary to utilize crisis teams and other ancillary resources.
Build and maintain working relationships with partner organizations such as Ayer District Court and NM Cares.
Support NM Cares drop-in center in hosting and marketing recovery events.
Complete incident reporting and any documentation as required by supervisor.
Meet and follow all team and agency policy and procedures.
Attend all conferences, meetings, supervisions and trainings necessary for quality job performance.
Qualifications
Lived experience is required for this position. Family Continuity values lived experience and requires a minimum of 24 months recovery with experience working directly with those with substance use disorders.
Current driver’s license, reliable transportation to and from many meetings, sites and appointments. Must be able to travel within a community. Must have access to personal cell phone. Must become First Aid/ CPR certified if not currently certified. Certification from a BSAS-approved Recovery Coach Training program
