City of Northampton Staff Assistant in Northampton, Massachusetts

Staff Assistant Location: Senior Services Department, Northampton, MA 01060 Department: Senior Services Job Status: Full-Time Days: Mon., Tue., Wed., Thu., Fri. Details: 35 Hours per week DEFINITION Under direction provides administrative and logistical support and coordinates elements of onsite and remote programs conducted by Senior Services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS General and Clerical Duties: Assists with tasks as assigned for onsite and remote program development, social media accounts, monthly newsletter, weekly email communications, advertising, data collection, maintains myseniorcenter events accurately and up to date. Maintains mail lists in bulk email program; assists with manual mailings Organizes logistics and sets up rooms for programs and activities Sets up and provides service for special events/programs Provides technical assistance with audio/video equipment Oversees proper usage and maintenance of various equipment Assists at Reception Desk with customer service and other Maintains various files pertaining to programs and members Promptly reports important issues to the Director Maintains a comfortable, safe, welcoming and clean environment for program activities Acts as backup cashier in Coffee Shop and lunch events Any additional duties/responsibilities delegated by the Director or Assistant Director MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience - High school diploma and at least one year of experience with administrative and logistical tasks. Up to one year of experience preferred working in a high-paced environment and Experience preferred with Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Audio/Visual Technical Support. Ability, Skill and Demeanor - Ability to follow and give instructions Position requires ability to pay close attention to details Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment A/V Technical Skills Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (verbal & written) Ability to deal effectively and appropriately with the senior community, town departments and other members of the community Maintain a pleasant and empathetic demeanor towards the senior community Utilizing common sense when assessing situations and involving Director when necessary PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Physical Requirements: Work may require standing or moving about part of the time with some agility and physical strength needed. Duties will include light to moderate physical effort required in performing some duties such as table/chair setup. Motor and Vision Skills: The duties may require minor motor skills such as operating a keyboard or operating audio/visual equipment requiring finger dexterity and motor coordination. MISC. INFORMATION This is a 35 hour per week In-person position. Full Benefits and privileges are consistent with other Non-Represented employees. Grade C; Hourly Rate Range: \$17.53-\$22.98 Anticipated Hiring Hourly Rate: \$17.53-\$19.82
