Smith College Sports Information Assistant in Northampton, Massachusetts

NORTHAMPTON - Sports Information Assistant This is a full-time academic year position working 39 weeks per year. Job Summary Responsible for assisting with the planning and development of all social media, promotional and branding strategies for all varsity athletic teams within Smith College and NCAA guidelines. Responsible for assistng in the promotion and reporting of competitive scholar-athletes. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3-5 years relevant athletic experience or an equivalent combination of intercollegiate playing, coaching or administrative experience. Preference given to candidates with prior successful collegiate experience. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Skills Teach and lead student-athletes including a demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, academically selective student population. Knowledge of social media nad tech skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; good judgment, discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Computer skills include word processing, database management, and email communication. Essential Functions Social Media (40%): Assist in creating/producing video content, managing social media accounts as well as developing publications and graphics for the website and social media pages. Assist in the oversight of all team social media accounts to ensure compliance with Smith College and NCAA rules and guidelines. Assist in the development of podcasts featuring coaches and student-athletes. Sport Operations (40%): Assist in the game day operations including overseeing live stats and live video streaming of all contests. Hire, train and supervise game day staff, including student workers. Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports. Manage and supervise the press box/scorer\'s table for all assigned home contests. Administration (20%): Design, write and edit various communication materials such as Game Recaps, student-athlete bios, press releases and feature stories. Nominate student-athletes for national, regional and conference athletic and academic honors. Assist in the organization and coordination of media days for varsity teams. Support special events such as the Athletic Hall of Fame, Athletic banquet and Giving Day.
