Job Description:

The Engineering Operations, Project Engineer Principal is responsible for driving engineering excellence with best practice processes and tools to help engineering teams solve the right problems for all engineering content within the division. S/he provides strategic technical leadership, establishes, and directs all aspects of the sector engineering policies, objectives and initiatives based on long-term product and profitability goals.

This position is also responsible to lead a cross-functional engineering team to cultivate innovative organizational solutions to enable an Integrated Mission Systems Maritime Sector Engineering Organization. A key part of this role is to work collaboratively across organizational divisions. The Engineering Operations Project Engineer must be able to interact with Sector peers, Segment and Corporate technical leaders and diverse customers. This position requires an experienced technical and a business professional who is able to focus simultaneously on near and long term strategic objectives while implementing change initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and supports a culture of continuous improvement and best practices within the Engineering organization focusing on effective planning, execution and optimization of engineering processes, systems, and resources.

  • Implementation of change initiatives and change management within the organization. For example, Product life cycle management and workforce planning.

  • Oversees Engineering e3, Value Engineering and cost take-out initiatives.

  • Promotes Innovative methodologies and methods to solve tough business issues in an agile manner.

  • Works in with the Sector leadership to co-develop the organization’s growth strategy.

  • Works with the Engineering Leadership Team to conduct discipline maturity skills assessments.

  • Decision maker for high level / high impact engineering technical issues.

  • Coordinates and Leads Engineering Staffing and workforce planning with Sector and Division Chief Engineers

  • Maintains a climate of fostering a high level of employee motivation, performance, and commitment.

  • Facilitates the Digital Engineering Infrastructure to streamline product and solution development.

  • Coordinates cross-functional to improve program financial performance by removing inefficiencies, provide greater insight to engineering leaders and reduce negative EACs.

  • Travel Requirements-Position requires travel up to 20%

    Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering; A master’s degree in engineering or a Master of Business Administration is highly desired.

  • 15 years of applicable experience in a product development role; DoD experience and 10 years’ experience leading cross functional teams with Change Management.

  • Experience leading large engineering organizations that are geographically diverse

  • Active Secret Security Clearance
