Cafeteria Assistant Location: School, Northampton, MA 01060 Department: School Job Status: Part-Time Days: Mon., Tue., Wed., Thu., Fri., Sat. Rate of Pay: \$18.25 - DEFINITION Assisting with preparation and service of food to students and maintenance of kitchens within the Northampton Public Schools. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs a variety of food service activities at the school site including, but not limited to, operating the POS system, meal accountability, assists cook and other cafeteria assistants with meal preparation, and service, cleaning and dishes. Meets all standards of local, state and federal health and USDA meal regulations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience - Experience in operation of kitchen equipment, previous food service experience, ability to read and interpret documents, complete necessary paperwork, effectively relay verbal instructions and apply basic math to day to day work in a kitchen. ServSafe certified or certified within 3 months of hire. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 30-50lbs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Constant moderate physical effort required in performing duties. Employee is regularly required to sit, to stand, to walk, to go up and down stairs, to carry objects, to reach above the head and to bend and reach below the waist and operate foot and hand controls, and to write. Must be able to frequently lift or move 30 to 50 pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision and depth perception. MISC. INFORMATION Seeking One (1) Northampton Public Schools Cafeteria Assistant. Monday - Friday on school days 5 hours per day - 25 hours per week. School Location: TBD Hourly Pay rate: \$18.25 Full benefits and privileges per the Northampton Association of School Employees (NASE) Unit G Cafeteria Collective Bargaining Agreement. IF HIRED: Must have acceptable MA CORI and SAFIS Fingerprint Background Checks prior to start of employment. Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or qualify for medical or religious exemption per the Northampton Association of School Employees (NASE) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
