Amazon Software Development Engineer, Amazon Robotics (AR) in North Reading, Massachusetts

Description

Amazon Robotics is building a new foundational system which will transform warehouse robotics. The system integrates multiple custom robots into a cohesive and highly efficient solution. The team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to build and scale this robotic system across the fulfillment network.

The ideal candidate is passionate about software development and has a track record of designing and implementing new products and features using cloud technologies ( preferably AWS) and software deployed at the edge. They have seen their solutions deployed at scale in live environments. They are a hands-on expert, with a deep and broad understanding of software tools and complex algorithm development.

Key job responsibilities

This is a brand new system which is a critical priority for the Robotics organization. As a key member, you will:

  • Work across teams to design and develop software which integrates with hardware

  • Prototype new concepts or features through simulators, emulators and with live robotic equipment in the lab

  • Work directly with internal customers and see the impact of your products in the field

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

North Reading, MA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • Expert level knowledge of at least one modern object oriented language such as Java (. preferred ), C++, or C#

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience working on software which controls robots or other hardware like telecom and medical devices
