Amazon Robotics is seeking an experienced Principal Product Manager – Technical (PM-T) to lead category development for our new robotic manipulation arm architecture and perception systems. In this role, you will create and drive category vision and strategy based on customer and business needs. You'll develop roadmaps, conduct business case and financial analyses, define and prioritize features and requirements, and manage resource scoping and commitments for high-visibility product categories. This highly cross-functional position involves close collaboration with Amazon Robotics' development engineering team on manipulation and sensing products, while working alongside solution integration engineering teams to incorporate these products into new designs and launches. This individual contributor role reports into Amazon Robotics' Product Management Excellence organization.

The ideal candidate combines creativity with strong analytical skills and is able to work extremely effectively in matrix organizations. You should be adept at synthesizing diverse business needs, technologies, and capabilities into product solutions that deliver transformative results. Key job responsibilities

  • Drive the development of the vision, strategy, business plan, and roadmap for your product categories.

  • Be a passionate advocate for the customer; understand and articulate business and customer needs, leverage internal knowledge and expertise, and prioritize requirements.

  • Inspire the team with the category and product vision, and work cross-functionally to bring that vision to life.

  • Define use cases, write requirements documents, and own the business metrics and KPIs for your products.

  • Author internal whitepapers and present to executive leadership to drive alignment on category strategy, multi-year roadmaps, product plans, and resource allocations.

About the team

The Product Management Excellence (PME) team’s mission is to collaborate with Leadership and broadly across Amazon Robotics (AR) to establish our long-term vision and influence AR’s product and technology strategy to develop a portfolio that maximizes AR’s impact to Amazon. We aim to own the full product lifecycle by balancing three ongoing priorities: (1) continuously improving the world’s largest robotics product base, (2) delivering new solutions that maximize our customers’ business performance, and (3) inventing transformative products to solve our customers’ future needs

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of product or program management, product development, engineering, or technology experience (10 years PMT experience, 15 years total experience if mixed with other technical roles)

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition for a product category

  • Experience making sound choices on product-technology feature, capability, and performance tradeoffs

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA and/or post-graduate engineering/science degree

  • Experience developing and launching first-generation B2B/B2B2C products and services; comfortable with ambiguity and nascent markets

  • Familiarity or experience with robotic mobility and/or manipulation, computer vision, actuators, sensors, and/or machine learning/AI

  • Experience analyzing applications for robotics and automations systems and specifying HW, SW and CX requirements

  • Experience using rapid prototyping and other creative mechanisms to gather direct customer feedback throughout the product development process

  • Passion for driving customer experiences and diving deep into highly technical topics with engineers and scientists

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to influence others and manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
