Position Overview

The Lead Technician is a highly skilled and experienced professional who serves as the foremost technical expert on-site. This role is critical in providing technical leadership, conducting high-quality maintenance and repair work, and ensuring the efficient operation of the facility. The Lead Technician serves as a key resource for other technicians. This incumbent may travel to other locations to provide support and training.

Description

• Advanced Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Perform complex maintenance and repair work on vehicles, utilizing advanced skills and knowledge. This includes diagnosing issues, replacing parts, and ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety and functionality.

• Technical Guidance and Training: Provide technical guidance and training to other technicians, demonstrating expert repair and maintenance techniques. Mentor less experienced technicians and set a high standard of excellence for the team to follow.

• Vehicle Inspection and Quality Assurance: Inspect repaired vehicles and conduct quality assurance checks, including test drives when necessary. Ensure that all repairs meet or exceed company standards and comply with safety regulations.

• Inventory Management and Optimization: Oversee the inventory of repair parts and equipment, optimizing stock levels to ensure availability and efficiency. Manage tasks such as labeling, barcoding, and special ordering of parts as needed.

• Compliance and Safety Management: Play a key role in ensuring compliance with OSHA and waste regulations, conducting PM audits, and managing garage inspections. Update logs and manuals and promote a culture of safety and compliance.

• Yard Management and Asset Tracking: Utilize yard management systems to locate and manage assets for maintenance services or deliveries. Ensure assets are properly tracked and accounted for, contributing to the facility's operational efficiency.

Environment

• Warehouse: Grocery Warehouse (50F to 90F)

• Warehouse: Freezer (-20F to 0F)

• Warehouse: Perishable Warehouse (28F to 60F)

Skills

• ASE certifications. Base understanding of mechanical principles and aptitude to complete repairs on heavy-duty equipment with moderate instruction. Vehicle maintenance systems, commercial truck components, driver D.O.T. regulations

• Proficiency at PM & troubleshooting of all lift-gate types

• Reefer Experience, 608 & 609

• Physical abilities: Heavy lifting involved, carrying, pushing, pulling, etc. 8 hours of continuous standing, squatting, and twisting at times. Working with computers some of the day

• Pride in high work quality and High attention to detail and accuracy

Years Of Experience

• 3-5: Mechanical exposure and understanding of principles of Internal Combustion Engines and previous work experience are strongly recommended.

• 3-5: Leadership experience

• 7-10: Mastery of the preceding technician levels
