North Adams Public Schools Family Literacy Instructor in North Adams, Massachusetts

This position is responsible for the planning, instruction and assessment of progress for students enrolled in the Family Literacy Program. The Instructor will provide multiple access points and opportunities for engagement and will work with the Director of Adult Basic Education to discuss lesson plans, student progress and assessment. This position will also provide opportunities for both adults and children to engage in learning opportunities in a structured environment with targeted, differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of the students. This position is for the school year only. Location: Remote/Literacy Program TBD Hours per day: 3 Days per week: 3 Not to exceed 250 hours Hourly rate: $30 Anticipated start date: January 17, 2022. Requirements: Complete lesson plans Use College and Career standards for Adult Education to plan and implement lessons Knowledge of the K-8 Common Core Standards to plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons Attend staff meetings Complete appropriate professional development to improve practice Saturday morning programming Physical Requirements: The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines. Environmental Conditions: The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents are toners, inks, and cleaning fluids.
