What You'll Contribute

The SEO Manager, Digital Marketing will be our in-house SEO resident expert, responsible for developing and executing effective search engine optimization strategies to drive organic website traffic and growth for the Sallie Mae Bank financial services business. This includes managing on-page SEO and off-page SEO activities, including technical SEO, optimizing keywords, link building and analyzing web analytics data to improve our online presence.

What You'll Do

  • Perform in-depth keyword research to target relevant search terms that will influence on-page and off-page SEO strategy and improve SERP rankings for Salliemae.com. Provide a monthly keyword map so our content team knows what we should target and where.

  • Optimize website content, meta tags, headers and URLs to ensure alignment with target keywords and enhance search engine crawlability.

  • Monitor and analyze website performance, such as website traffic, conversion rates and engagement, and make data-driven recommendations for optimization. Use SEO tools and analytics to provide regular reports and recommendations for optimizations.

  • Work cross-functionally with our Education Services business for internal linking and off-page SEO opportunities between the two business lines.

  • Support editorial planning for the website by sizing traffic potential for topics and page optimizations based on competitor rankings. Perform annual review of product web pages and blog articles for potential updates from an SEO perspective.

  • Identify and execute link-building activities to ensure quality links from reputable sources.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as content, design, product, and IT, to ensure optimal content performance and core web vitals.

  • Stay on top of emerging SEO trends and technologies, exploring innovative approaches to enhance our SEO efforts further.

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and insights for campaign optimization and new marketing opportunities.

What you have

Minimum education, skills and experience required.

  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing channels, including SEO, SEM, social media advertising, email marketing, content marketing, and analytics tools.

  • Proficiency in using marketing automation platforms, CRM systems, and web analytics tools.

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to drive actionable insights and optimize campaigns.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

  • Proactive and results-oriented mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive measurable results.

  • Proficient with Adobe Analytics preferred and SEO tools like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SimilarWeb, SEM Rush, and AI.

  • Proficient with ScreamingFrog or other site crawling tools like DeepCrawl.

Preferred education, skills, and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

  • 5-7 years of experience in digital marketing, preferably with experience in managing digital marketing campaigns and websites.

  • Experience working in SEO with a financial institution and/or agency.
