Summary

The Global Planner plays a key role in maximizing our growth, operating profit, and financial returns through a portfolio of global products and assets. The Global Planner is the operational partner to Product Management, driving planning and execution through all planning horizons, focused on priorities, business rules and go-to-market strategies developed in collaboration with Product Management. Success in this role will require the Global Planner to develop a deep understanding of the planning/scheduling processes, product lines, technologies, operational assets, and operational capabilities, and then leverage his or her masterful influencing skills across a global, matrixed organization.

The Global Planner will leverage a solid understanding of the financial impacts of various decisions to maximize the financial performance of each asset within their area of responsibility, as well as intimate understanding of product specifications, capacities and capabilities of asset groupings and labor requirements to drive supply trade-offs and future investment requirements. The Global Planner will be ultimately responsible for the Supply of a portfolio of products and assets, including new business opportunities (NBOs) and new product launches.

The Global Planner is expected to have high visibility with Leadership in all Sales and Operations planning and execution meetings for relevant portfolio, and work in close collaboration with Product Management, Operations, Sales and Technology & Innovation to manage the product lines and assets in accordance with strategic business goals.

This person is a well-rounded individual who encompasses analytical, communication, people and leadership skills with strong business and commercial acumen. They can work under pressure and cross-functionally, to drive sound decision making with a result-oriented focus. They can quickly identify deviations from expected results and other disruptions and can promptly lead their teams to resolve any issues, fostering a high performance and engaged culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivers portfolio demand and supply plans through all planning horizons that drive portfolio operational plans and execution, with accountability to assist and manage the identification and resolution of plan variances, inventory, cost and service optimization in alignment to the business objectives. Global Planner advises Product Management on capabilities and trade-offs in the portfolio in shaping of business rules required for Supply Plan and resultant required order entry. Secures Leadership go-forward consensus plans in collaboration with Product Management. Understands capacity limitations and ensures short term forecasts have accurate ‘constrained’ views.

  • Has wider view of all EM Asset Groups that affect own portfolio planning and execution to drive best scenario outcome with other Global Planners- Identifies, resolves or escalates between-portfolio challenges and quantifies impact. escalating to Product Management, Supply Chain Management and Leadership. Looks to maximize financial returns and improved profitability per production hour through cost improvements and throughput increases.

  • Drives execution of go-to-market strategy and internal supply requirements. Works with Supply Chain Planning and Inventory Management to drive the right-sizing of the working capital components needed to support portfolio strategic business goals. Continually pursue opportunities to reduce working capital to minimize % as percent of sales.

  • Manages Production Control Managers of multiple sites under value stream portfolio groupings Asset Grouping to execute and drive execution horizon- intermediate production levels, production order scheduling, communicate order late risk as well as ensure consistent and accurate work cell system data such as work center capacity, and planned outages. Escalates impact concerns and true view of the production floor (production plan adherence) to Operations and Supply Chain management Expected to be called upon weekly (Monthly, Quarterly) to report directly to Leadership on progress to forecast and trade-off planning and execution scenarios.

  • In conjunction with Product Management, develops relationships with strategic customers/distributors to drive planning and execution of new business opportunities (NBOs), new product/services from T&I, resolution of larger specification and quality concerns. The Global Planner is also the supply chain contact and resource for specific value-stream/portfolio strategic customer meetings or escalations.

Qualifications

Education :

  • Preferred: College Educated -OR- commiserate experience in production environments.

Experience :

  • Required: Experience as either Master Planner, Senior Planner, Supply Chain Manager, Product Manager or Operations/Quality Manager

  • Preferred: Experience as Supply Chain Manager AND product manager

  • Years of Experience: 10

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • S&OP and S&OE coordinators across different geographies and business units.

  • Other process owners (finance, supply, portfolio planning, order management, etc.).

  • Commercial (sales and marketing).

  • Finance.

  • Supply chain (manufacturing, logistics, order management, quality and procurement).

  • Product development.

  • Evaluate scenarios with attention to detail in with end-to-end supply chain impact in mind.

  • Ability to understand, refine and train algorithms to aid in analysis and scenario planning.

  • Understanding of systems and business processes to facilitate and make sound and efficient decision making.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
