Kennedy-Donovan Center Safe Release Specialist in New Bedford, Massachusetts

About this role:

KDC’s Safe Release Program is part of our Immigration and Refugee Services division. This program supports unaccompanied children in the process of being released from custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement. The Safe Release Specialist’s primary responsibility is to perform fingerprinting of sponsors of unaccompanied children in our New Bedford office. The Safe Release Specialist will help sponsors complete paperwork necessary for the fingerprinting and perform the physical fingerprinting. 

Part-Time 28 hours/week:

  • Schedule A: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am - 5:30 pm

  • Schedule B: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 am - 5:30 pm

    We are looking for people who:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, required.

  • Two years’ general office experience, required.

  • Knowledge and skill in Excel, Outlook, Teams and other Microsoft Office suite software, required.

  • Valid Massachusetts Drivers’ License, proof of insurance and access to a personal vehicle, required.

    In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Coordinate with sponsors, shelters, LIRS, and the electronic booking platform to manage and schedule fingerprint appointments for sponsors within three business days of requests.

  • Complete paperwork accurately and in compliance with program standards.

  • Make copies of required documents for client files while ensuring all files are organized and accounted for.

  • Enter sponsor and minor information in the LIRS Children’s Services Case Management System (CSCMS)

  • Refer clients to Legal Orientation Program for Custodians of Unaccompanied Alien Children (LOPC).

  • Guide clients and sponsors on available resources while actively searching for new resources in the area to assist with social support.

  • Maintain, provide, and support the Digital Fingerprint Machine through proper care and the reporting of accurate data and any technical issues to the Supervisor.

  • Comply with various federal, state or local laws as well as the “Rules of Behavior for the HHS Digital Fingerprinting System” and the “Safe Release Support Program Manual”

  • May serve as an interpreter when language skills are applicable for case services.

  • Follow all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
