City of New Bedford Payroll Supervisor in New Bedford, Massachusetts

Oversee day-to-day management of the city?s Centralized Payroll operations. 1. The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day procedures of the city?s centralized payroll operations and supervises 2 team members. 2. Additionally, validates salary tables to ensures accurate calculation of wages, prepares statistical reports, employee pay, retro pay, sick incentive, longevity incentive, uniform allowances, vacations, sick time, workers comp, garnishments, voids, handwrites and more. 3. The Payroll Supervisor also provides training to their team on policies, regulations, processes and may be the first level escalation for complaints or complex error resolution. 4. Participate in technical projects such as developing computer programs for specified applications and modifying/supporting those applications already in existence related to payroll. 5. Participate in the acquisition, installation, support, problem diagnosis and resolution, and training of users on all computer related to payroll. 6. Participate in developing training manuals and/or user documentation, as well as conducting training sessions for application software for employees. 7. Participate in the continued and new development of all computer systems related to payroll, assist with implementing and continuing development of in-house applications; analyze, customize, test, and create instructional documentation for end user trainings; ensure that the deployment and upgrades are planned and carried out correctly. 8. Perform related work as required and assigned. Education and Experience ? Bachelor?s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred. ? Four years of experience in payroll processing with two years in a supervisory or management role preferred. ? Munis experience is a plus. ? Above average Microsoft Excel skills.
