Under general supervision of the Assistant Director Building & Grounds, and following established guidelines, performs a variety of tasks associated with surface preparation and application of paints, stains, and related products on buildings, furniture, floors, and other surfaces.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1) Meets with individuals to define job to be accomplished; advises on effect the surfaces, lighting conditions, and location may have on preparation; selects appropriate products to accomplish job.

2) Properly prepares surfaces and materials; removes grease, oil, dirt, mold, loose or peeling material, etc.; patches cracks, holes, or

other damaged areas; repairs and textures walls and similar surfaces; protects adjacent areas before painting by taping and using

drop cloths; mixes paints using tinting bases and liquid color; selects primer and application method.

3) Uses power sprayers, rollers, brushes, and other equipment for applying paints and stains; checks own work and corrects any

irregularities that would detract from appearance.

4) Gains access to surface to be painted, properly moving file cabinets or furniture as needed.

5) Removes debris from work site and performs general clean-up of work area; selects and maintains tools and equipment for jobs;

maintains brushes, rollers, trays, sprayers, compressors, and related equipment; stores paints and stains and inventories for

future use.

6) Completes work orders and logs; reviews catalog and product bulletins for changes in equipment, tools, and supplies.

7) Properly maintain all tools, supplies, and equipment in accordance with established guidelines.

8) Trains others in applying paint products and using related equipment; assists other Engineering & Maintenance personnel as

directed; responds to emergency callbacks.

9) Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles and Mission Statement into daily activities.

10) Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.

11) Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.

12) Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

13) Demonstrates an understanding of job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment..

14) Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to our

Customer Service standards.

15) Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.

16) Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.

17) Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Licensure, Certification, Registration: None required.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Knowledge of safe and proper surface preparation and application of paint, stain, and related products. Attention to detail. In the absence of any of these, colleague must demonstrate the ability to be trained in these areas up to organizational standards.
