Our client, a prominent commercial real estate firm with a special focus in industrial properties, is in search of an accomplished and driven Corporate Controller to augment their finance department. The individual in this role will be integral to managing and controlling the finance-related facets of their operating firm and corporate accounts while upholding precision, observance, and proficiency. Key Responsibilities:

  • Preside over all the features of financial accounting, reporting, and analysis for the corporate arm of the firm. The corporate arm includes its operating business along with its construction and facilities management business.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive financial processes, controls, and procedures to guarantee precision, probity, and punctual reportage to the firm’s key stakeholders.

  • Monitor and evaluate the firm’s revenue model and corporate overhead and expenses, making recommendations for improvements based on market intelligence and best operating practices.

  • Drive the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, which include the preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to enable audits, filings, and compliance requirements.

  • Nurture and mentor a select team of accounting professionals, offering guidance, support, training, and assessment as needed.

  • Undertake financial forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning activities to steer decision-making and corporate objectives.

  • Closely collaborate with cross-functional teams to offer financial insights and back strategic initiatives.

  • Stay up to date with industry advancements, regulatory modifications, and best practices in commercial real estate finance and accounting.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • BS's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is an asset.

  • Minimum of 8-10+ years of progressive experience in financial accounting and reporting, within commercial real estate operating companies or private equity real estate firms.

  • Familiarity with GAAP principles, financial controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in financial systems, ERP software, or accounting software.
