Waters Vice President, Global Supply Chain in Milford, Massachusetts

Waters’ Global Supply Chain team is a highly visible organization that plays a key role at the intersection of product development, manufacturing, and market operations. This organization delivers value across the enterprise by delivering deep expertise, outside-in creativity and customer success at its core.

Reporting to the SVP, Global Operations, the Vice President, Global Supply Chain is an innovative and collaborative leader driven by data and clear metrics to design an integrated strategy to transform a global supply chain organization spanning Sourcing (direct and indirect), Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Distribution, Logistics and Trade.

This organization oversees a worldwide organization of 115 Global Supply Chain employees who are responsible for over $1Billion in total annual spend.

GLOBAL SOURCING: With $600M in indirect spend and $400M in direct spend, the Global Sourcing organization is driving a worldwide category transformation to deliver value-centric supplier relationships focusing on Total Cost of Ownership.

GLOBAL DEMAND and SUPPLY PLANNING: Driving and improving S&OP processes for accurate demand planning, collaboration with manufacturing to create and execute supply plans. Creating strategies to optimize inventory, product availability and service levels.

LOGISTICS & DISTRIBUTION: Operation of regional distribution centers in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Driving optimization and scalability of its complex network across all modes, nodes and flows. Additionally, this team is expanding its logistics services to meet client demand.

TRADE COMPLIANCE: Collaborates across internal and external legal, market and technical teams to navigates the dynamic and evolving world of global trade to ensure our products cross borders on time to our customers.

SUPPLY CHAIN 4.0: A digital transformation of the supply chain to drive substantial opportunity to scale our operations, advance our capabilities, capitalize on cost savings and deliver competitive advantage through automated systems and predictive analytics.

The role of the VP, Global Supply Chain has enterprise responsibilities, advising the SVP Global Operations, CEO and Executive Committee on continuous improvement and implementation of novel supply chain strategies. This role partners with leaders across the enterprise in an advisory capacity to ensure alignment and achievement of objectives.

This role has authority to represent Waters with our key suppliers and partners, influencing our strategic partnerships to drive product quality and availability.

  • Lead the strategic direction of the Global Supply Chain organization, including translation of strategy to actionable plans.

  • Responsible for Direct, Indirect Spend and Product Inventories measured by ROIC and company deployment of capital.

  • Provide oversight and management of Supply Chain KPI’s and Key Initiatives.

  • Drive operational excellence in service, quality and cost.

  • Champion Supply Chain 4.0 digitalization efforts.

  • Drive advancement of data and systems capabilities for improved competitive advantage and reduced costs.

  • Champion Supply Chain globalization efforts leveraging global scale to drive enterprise value.

  • Apply supply chain knowledge and expertise to identify best methods and to advance the organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers across the enterprise to stay current on strategic initiatives and to align imperatives into the C-level agenda.

  • Responsible for organizational health and effectiveness.

  • Foster employee engagement, development and improvement of skills and structure

  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree in business, management, engineering or relevant degree.

  • MBA or MS preferred.

  • 15+ years of experience of leading multifunctional global supply chain teams

  • Multi-dimensional thinker who operates not only based on important past experiences but also considers new approaches and developments.

  • Strong track record of change management and success working cross-functionally.

  • Passionate about business results and quality, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership

  • Proven ability to build a strong team of direct reports and to actively develop the team’s potential through coaching and effective performance management.
