Waters Senior Finance Manager (Software/Product Development) in Milford, Massachusetts

The Snr Finance Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of the Software Development Management Unit which has International Multi site activities. This position will manage a finance team of qualified and experienced finance professionals and work closely with other members within the Global Products business unit as well as across the Corporation. The role supports a dynamic and complex business unit, the individual will be expected to be able to support business initiatives, provide advancement opportunities for a team, ensure all financial reporting requirements are adhered to on a timely manner and be accountable for achieving results.

The Snr Finance Manager will provide financial support and direction to the operational teams within the Software Development group, working alongside senior management to VP level. The role will support initiatives, prepare and manage budgets / forecasts, routine reporting and ensuring that the financial goals of the organisation are achieved. This position will possess a ‘continual improvement’ mindset and drive both personal and group objectives. The direct reporting team will be responsible for activities within both the US and UK, the consolidated group will also incorporate the activities of the Romanian software development site.

Experience of SaaS would be of benefit for the role as the business progresses with its exciting strategic initiatives. An ability to manage multiple tasks, interact and direct cross functional teams, manage experienced staff members and possess financial accounting knowledge is a requirement to the role. The role will be focused in the software development area of the business, prior experience within this environment would be beneficial as well as interacting with external professional groups. Working within a controlled environment within the requirements of SOX is paramount to the role.

  • Direct reporting group responsible for software development activities in UK and US

  • Consolidate worldwide software development performance for UK, US and Romania

  • Business unit financial support

  • Budgeting / monthly financial reporting / forecasting

  • Communication of financial results to Sr. Management as it relates to annual operating plan, forecasting & other business opportunities and risks

  • Manage the Software finance team (US and UK operations) and coordinate across the broader Global Products finance team

  • Develop and support SaaS business models, coordinate within the Company wide initiative and develop a robust routine reporting process

  • Support strategic initiatives interacting with Senior management (Snr Directors and VP) providing both financial and operational experience

  • Coordination across corporate teams to report financial results – Management unit reporting / Corporate reporting – adherence to strict reporting deadlines

  • Support the Global software royalty management process, calculations and reporting

  • Software capitalisation reporting / analysis and planning

  • Interacting with Internal Audit department.

  • Interacting with and responding to requests from external audit.

  • Ensuring adherence to SOX controls, continual assessment of controls and implementation

  • Continuous process and control improvements across the team.

Personnel Performance Management and Development

  • Work with employees and Waters Management to develop annual performance objectives of both self and team.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or related fields of study

  • 10+ years’ related work experience ideally with a mix of public and private experience with software development expertise

  • Experience working in a SaaS, software development environment inclusive of accounting for Software capitalisation

  • Advanced Excel Knowledge and SAP

  • Business Forecasting and Modelling, working closely within budgetary and forecasted parameters

  • Working within an environment of strict adherence to reporting deadlines
