State of Massachusetts PM IV - Hearings Officer in Milford, Massachusetts

Duties: In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 31, S41 and the various Collective Bargaining Agreements, the Hearing Officer is responsible for conducting hearings relative to contemplated and/or imposed employee discipline. This position will be responsible for obtaining and disseminating, to the affected parties, all information to include, but not limited to investigatory interviews, incident reports, and other pertinent documentation/evidence. The Hearing Officer will provide written notification of scheduled hearings to all affected parties. The Hearing Officer will be responsible for submitting written reports detailing the facts presented by all parties in contemplated discipline. For appeal hearings held involving imposed discipline the Hearing Officer will provide a written report detailing the facts of the hearing and recommendations for consideration by the Administration. Additional responsibilities include maintaining an open line of communication with all affected parties, conducting regular follow-up on cases and drafting other documents as required. This position requires travel to a variety of department of Correction facilities. Performs other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications: Admission to the Massachusetts Bar and/or substantial experience in labor relations and employment matters. The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents. The DOC urges bilingual applicants to apply. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) four (4) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. II. An Associate's degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. III. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. IV. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience. V.
