Waters Americas Health, Safety and Environment Manager in Milford, Massachusetts
Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Regional Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager to support manufacturing, research, laboratory, and distribution operations at our facilities within the Americas region. The Regional Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring site environmental and safety programs as well as educating and engaging employees at all levels with these programs. This role will report to the Global HSE Director and work closely with the Regional Managers for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific and Greater China (APAC/GC.)
Proactively manage health, safety and environmental compliance and related continuous improvement programs
Support Americas sites and field-based employees located in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil
Maintain site licenses, permits, reporting and regulatory requirements as required: air, water, laboratory safety, hazardous chemical storage and use, hazardous waste, etc.
Develop and promote safety programs, safety awareness and HSE culture
Develop and deploy ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 45001 Safety Management systems at manufacturing and distribution sites
Monitor regulatory updates and industry best practices throughout the Americas region
Provide guidance and advice to employees, supervisors and managers on HSE compliance and best practices
Conduct job hazard analyses, personal protective equipment assessments, and facility safety and environmental audits and inspections
Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and support and documentation of corrective actions
Assist with the determination and collection of key performance indicators (KPIs)
Develop and deploy employee HSE training and maintain associated training records
Liaise with HSE Team members, Facilities and Real Estate departments on projects, initiatives, and budgets
Participate in due diligence efforts and integration programs associated with mergers and acquisitions
Domestic and international travel required (10-20% post-pandemic)
Directly manage site-based HSE staff

Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in an HSE role within an industrial or laboratory setting
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical / Environmental / Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or related field
Working knowledge of domestic and international HSE regulations with a focus on laboratory safety
Experience with environmental permitting, hazardous chemical and waste management, and ISO 14001/45001 programs
Experience leading health and safety initiatives
Experience with program development and implementation of new or changing regulations
Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate and recommend controls for workplace hazards
Demonstrated ability to execute work assignment and perform duties without direct supervision
Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills; strong attention to detail
Superior communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, HSE management software and SAP
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional safety and/or environmental certification(s) strongly preferred
Experience managing direct reports
Ability to lead through influence and to work effectively as part of a matrixed organization
Ability to manage multiple priorities and to adapt and learn in a changing work environment
