Position Summary /_This is a State 911 Department Internal Posting Only_/ Incumbents apply advanced knowledge, skills, abilities, and public safety communications experience to supervise the PSAP Operations Division Communications Center. Incumbents help implement quality assurance practices and address problems that impact service delivery such as the need for resources, clarification of policies, procedures, standards or objectives, and intervention into poor performance, conduct or morale. Incumbents help identify and implement remediation and compliance measures to be taken so that expectations for delivery of dispatch services are being met. Incumbents collaborate with Agency Management to ensure effective, mission-based operations in the Communications Center.* * _Please upload both a Resume and Cover Letter for this position when applying._ _DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES_ In addition to the functions performed at the Public Safety Dispatcher I and II levels, incumbents apply the knowledge skills and abilities acquired at entry level to perform the following: · Supervise subordinate staff in the day-to-day operation of the Communications Center. · Monitor telephones and radio communications in the center and ensure that 911 calls are handled in accordance with Agency policy and procedure · Oversee the condition and functionality of communications, video, and office equipment in the Communications Center to maintain operational integrity and continuous service · Report equipment malfunctions to management and assist with facilitating the repair, replacement, and/or removal of equipment as needed · Schedule and monitor staffing of work shifts to ensure adequate coverage of the Communications Center in accordance with Agency policy · Assist with the conducting of quality assurance reviews of the center’s 911 call responses through systematic review of electronic recordings and transcripts · Evaluate and report on subordinates’ work performance to management · Assist management in the implementation of remediation of subordinates · Assist management in the training of employees on equipment and in department policy and procedure · Review, maintain and update records and files that pertain to the operation of the Communications Center · Perform various administrative tasks related to primary job duties as assigned or designated · Maintain confidentiality with access to highly sensitive information First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. Applicants must have at least (A) five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the operation of emergency telecommunications systems, of which (B) at least three years must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity, and (C) a high school diploma or certificate of graduation from a secondary education school or program recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.* * A Massachusetts High School Equivalency diploma, certificate of General Educational Development (GED), or an equivalent secondary education credential recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts may also be accepted. External candidates may be required to successfully complete a critical skills assessment prior to hire. Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.
