$10,000 sign Bonus.

$35.00 - hourly

40 hours - Schedule: Mon - Fri 8am - 4pm

Nurse Managers are a lead member of the multi-disciplinary team. The Nurse Manager will case manage the health care needs of individuals, provide training to staff, and communicate health care information to funders and other stakeholders. at BAMSI our nurses are in a unique position to provide care for individuals served in their home, in the community and with their friends. Our community based group homes for adults with complex medical needs, developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury and/or mental illness are designed to support individuals in a large comfortable home setting. Persons served are encouraged to become active members of their communities including engaging in employment, volunteer activities as well as social and recreational activities. Our homes house 3-8 individuals each providing opportunity to build relationship with those that you care for and their families. Position is responsible for floating and providing nursing coverage to assigned programs within the designated area. Mileage is reimbursed.

Must possess a Massachusetts license as a nurse and possess a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience. A valid driver's license in state of residence and satisfactory driving record is required. Must be currently certified in CPR. Prior supervisory experience and 2 years experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Direct Care & Coordination of Medical Services:

  • Coordinate and support the health care needs of individuals living in a supervised community setting utilizing a holistic and team oriented approach.

  • Utilize Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) practices to create a thoughtful and supportive work environment by ensuring activities, plans and routines reflect the preferences, needs and goals of individuals.

  • Work in conjunction with the Nurse Director and other team members to ensure overall clinical support and nursing coverage for the assigned area.

  • Assume the role of program nurse manager when there is a vacancy.

  • Participate in the orientation of new nurse managers.

  • Identify health related needs, monitor medical status and work with staff, physicians and allied health professionals to formulate, coordinate and implement health related treatment plans and protocols for assigned individuals served.

  • When needed, administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to funders regulations, CARF, and DPH regulations.

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals served as needed, including ADL care, transportation, and facilitating community outings.

  • Provide concise, accurate, and timely health related updates on individuals served to stakeholders including funders, guardians, and BAMSI team members.

  • Provide coverage at day habilitation programs or other residential programs as needed.

  • Coordinate with assigned programs to ensure medications, medical and safety supplies are available as needed.

  • Coordinate hospital admissions and discharges using a collaborative approach.

  • Provide physical support, assistance with lifting and transferring up individuals served who have physical challenges as needed.

Staff Management & Development:

  • Assume the role of program nurse manager when there is a vacancy.

  • Participate in the orientation of new nurse managers.

  • Assist with interviewing and hiring nurses.

  • Identify and provide training to both staff and individuals served in relevant areas (e.g., health, hygiene, safety, diet, etc.).

  • Provide oversight of daily operations in absence of supervisor or designee, as requested

  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to provide guidance for direct care staff and nursing staff, including implementing the progressive discipline process and recognition of staff achievements.

  • Supervise assigned nursing to ensure completion of job responsibilities.

  • Provide 24 hour on-call, on a rotating basis, to ensure nursing coverage, provide medical support, and access to resources.

  • Provide holiday coverage on a rotating basis.

Quality Management:

  • Maintain medication books, house log books, etc. to ensure program compliance with all regulations.

  • Ensure highest quality of safety standards and that infection control protocols are followed.

  • Complete written reports, assessments, protocols, etc. as required in a clear, concise and professional manner.

Other:

  • Perform other related duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor or designee.

-Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with 3 years experience required.

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of the theories, methods, procedures and practices of nursing care.

  • Two years experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.

  • Must possess a valid drivers license in state of residence.

  • Basic computer literacy, including the ability to record data, use electronic time and attendance software and receive and send electronic mail, as needed, is required.

  • Effective critical thinking, writing and communication skills.

-Ability to lift, push, pull, maneuver up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to reach, bend, stand, sit and walk; perform fine motor activities. Work effectively in a moderate to occasionally loud work environment.
