Full Time 40 Hours per week
Key Competencies: Human Resources Management
Creates and maintains monthly department staff schedule. Confers with peers to coordinate shared employee schedules. Creates and maintains daily suite assignments
Participates in all levels of personnel process, including candidate interviews and recommendations for hire; assists with employee transfers, promotions, disciplinary process and terminations.
Creates and maintains employee departmental records containing CEU file, Competency File, documentation from counseling sessions and disciplinary action, and achievements.
Conducts staff Performance Appraisals in a timely manner and according to hospital guidelines. Ensures competencies and continued educational documentation are completed and collected.
Creates, maintains and provides structured Competency Program on all new and transferred employees. Coordinates RIS (Meditech) training with RIS Coordinator. Documents activity and progress on competency forms. Assists employee in learning and adjusting to work environment in a positive fashion
Assists clinical/technical staff with positioning, procedures, & protocols. Readily answers questions, coaches and educates staff. Identifies areas for improvement in a positive manner.
Key Competencies: Clinical Practice and Department Operations
Manages daily department operation and ensures all exams are performed, focusing on patient needs and efficiency. Assists staff in prioritizing workload and avoiding delays in service.
Ensures that all emergency exams are completed as soon as possible and radiologists' preliminary report forms are provided to the Emergency Department, or ordering unit.
Creates and maintains departmental policies and procedures. Interprets policies & procedures to staff, and others as appropriate. Ensures department policy & procedure and protocol manuals are available for employee review.
Assists physicians with interventional or other procedures, as indicated. Ensures suite set up, including equipment, is appropriate before procedure begins.
Demonstrates flexibility in covering the department on an "on call" basis during off-hours, including holidays and weekends. Readily covers department during sick calls and vacation time.
Ensures outpatients are scheduled for first available appointment, unless otherwise requested, and all required information- physician order form, insurance referral and/or precertification,& clinical history-is obtained at booking time.
Collaborates with healthcare team, internal and external, to ensure patient care is coordinated and optimal care and services are provided to patient..
Key Competencies: Financial Management
Oversees daily timesheet documentation, prepares payroll weekly and maintains payroll records for department staff. Ensures that scheduled FTE's do not exceed budgeted FTE's
Creates annual operational and capital budget for department. Strives to stay within approved budgetary figures. Maintains appropriate inventory control and supply order records. Provides monthly variance reports, as requested.
Conducts annual and ongoing charge description master (CDM) review and revision for department in collaboration with RIS Coordinator. Maintains knowledge of reimbursement terminology and seeks assistance from resources. Provides CPT Codes, descriptions and expense information prior to new procedures being performed.
Maintains monthly statistics and uses information to assist in cost analysis and recommendations for new programs/services, equipment and supply needs.
Key Competencies: Performance Improvement and Safety
Participates in departmental performance improvement and patient/employee safety programs and projects.
Participates on task forces, PI teams, committees, etc.
Holds self and staff accountable for patient and employee safety standards, policies, procedures and practices.
Wears film badge and provides badge for monthly evaluation on date due. Reviews and initials monthly badge report.
Key Competencies: Performance Improvement and Safety
Remains current in imaging technology for optimal patient care. Assists in new program development and replacement equipment evaluations, including vendor meetings, site visits, Participates in multiyear planning.
Initiates trouble shooting and service calls in the event of equipment failure. Maintains adequate service reports and documents event appropriately.
Dept Specific Competencies Radiology Team Leader – including but not limited to credentials, competencies, and specific job responsibilities
Ensures staff routinely provides copies of CEU records as mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Radiation Control Program. Retains CEU records within employees' departmental files.
Maintains own CEU records on campus as mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Radiation Control Program. Retains CEU records within own file in department.
Demonstrates complete knowledge of required IT modules according to competency. These include Meditech ITS (including management reporting, patient tracking, record procedure--charging, editing--locator), CWS, EMR; Lanier (verbal reports); Iatric ABN screens; downtime procedures.
Demonstrates proficiency in operating C-arms, including imaging, archiving, reformatting and retrospective imaging.
Checks code cart and maintains supplies according to hospital protocol.
