Job Description:

As the major Army Reserve presence in New England, Devens Reserve Forces Training Area (RFTA) provides operational, training and logistic resources to tenant, transient training and stationed units and area customers; provides standardized, effective and efficient services, facilities, infrastructure and quality of life to Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees and Civilian Employees as applicable to support the training, readiness and operational capability for all components and branches of the joint force, accomplished through responsible execution of funds and effective conservation of natural resources. On order, provides Defense Support to Civil Authorities, as directed.

The US Army Signal Network Enterprise Center (NEC) Fort Devens, Massachusetts provides Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) Services to the United States Army Garrison (USAG) Fort Devens and its headquarters, the Reserve Command and Installation Management Command.

Our Systems Administrator will perform as a member of our comprehensive team supporting various aspects of administration within directory services, storage, software application delivery and security both on unclassified and classified networks.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the onsite Program Manager.

  • Utilize BMC Remedy ticketing system for processing of service requests and incidents.

  • Operate and maintain unclassified Installation Organizational Unit (OU) within Active Directory to include providing top level OU administrator management, infrastructure management and monitoring.

  • Install approved for use desktop software on desktop systems.

  • Perform release management to include commercial software, standard software, and new system releases.

  • Perform all updates for all end user computers on the enterprise network to include automated software updates, security updates, and vendor patches are provided to end user devices on the enterprise network. Customers must ensure device availability.

  • Resolve unclassified desktop system requests through remote administration actions (troubleshooting, repairing) that do not require touch labor

  • Receive, test, tailor, publish, and advertise patch packages containing software updates, security updates and vendor patches for push to unclassified end user devices.

  • Install, test and verify operating system service packs, application updates and patches on all common user systems.

  • Monitor system logs, security logs, and application logs for each file, print, and common user applications systems.

  • Perform release management to include commercial software, standard software, and site license management, for new system releases for domain managed systems.

  • Provide local touch labor (layer 1 troubleshooting, repairing, etc.) for Enterprise assets and resolve requests through remote administration actions (troubleshooting, repairing) that do not require touch labor.

  • Perform as an escalation entity for Help Desk trouble tickets to solve Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III issues.

  • Work Saturdays. Personnel can flex schedule and pick their 2 off days.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Systems Administrator with demonstrated experience in top level Active Directory OU management and system administration.

  • Bachelor's degree OR High School Diploma/GED with an additional one (1) year of systems administration experience.

  • SECRET Clearance Required

DOD 8570.01-M IAT II Certified in at least ONE of the following certifications:

Security CE

CCNA Security

CSA

GICSP

GSEC

SSCP

  • IAT Level III certification also acceptable:

  • CASP CE

  • CCNP Security

  • CISA

  • CISSP

  • GCED

  • GCIH

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) Windows Server 2012 certification within 6 months of hire.

  • In lieu of the MCSA Server 2012, position requires comparable Microsoft certification under the new Roles Based Certification path.

  • Clearance and DoD 8750.01-M IAT II certification must be delivered and validated at the time of application.
