Join our Relief Team!
As a Relief Counselor, you gain experience and play a crucial role in supporting individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges by helping them live independently and live beyond their perceived limitations.
The Oasis program partners with Harrington Hospital to provide 6-12 months of residential recovery services to 16 adults who have both mental health and substance use disorders. Oasis is not a typical group home environment – our model is to support all paths to wellness and recovery including yoga, meditation, smart recovery, therapy animals, 12-step programs, and more.
Recovery Specialists assist individuals with their recovery process as they live with substance use and mental health challenges by creating a healing and supportive environment – an ‘Oasis,’ if you will! The Recovery Specialist Supervisor provides guidance, support and training to the Recovery Specialists as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program to ensure the program, and individuals served, are meeting their goals and objectives.
Other Key Responsibilities:
Assess healthcare needs and assist in the coordination and referral for healthcare services.
Assist people served to access and/or provide transportation as needed.
Create daily and weekly schedules with individuals. Encourage individuals to participate in community activities.
Perform meal preparation for the individuals served. Facilitate one communal meal per day for the individuals served.
Attend or facilitate individual, family or group meetings as assigned, attend, or facilitate one house meeting per week and facilitate morning meeting 5 days a week.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required
Valid Drivers' License and acceptable driving record, required.
Previous experience working with adults with mental health needs and substance use disorder, required.
Reliability, willingness to learn, and being open to new opportunities.
