RedHat Fedora Linux for Raspberry Pi Co-op in Massachusetts
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Fedora Linux for Raspberry Pi Co-op to join us in Westford, MA. The broad goal of this project is to improve the usability of Fedora Linux on the Raspberry Pi platform. In this role, you will collaborate with Red Hat’s mentors and others on an open source project supporting the Fedora operating system on the Pi. The potential areas where you may end up contributing will include system-level usability improvements, integrating Raspberry Pi drivers into upstream Linux, initially targeting the SenseHat driver, kernel improvements, and firmware changes.
Primary job responsibilities
Contribute upstream to open source projects, targeting mainline Linux (not exclusively)
Apply your knowledge of practical low-level software development, specifically of drivers, kernel, and firmware
Work on material improvement of Fedora usability on the Raspberry Pi
Create documentation and tutorials for other open source participants about useful activities, like device setup and custom kernel compilation
Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in computer science, computer engineering, or related fields
Knowledge of any Linux-based operating system
Coding experience with C
Knowledge of computer science fundamentals like object-oriented design, algorithm design, data structures, problem-solving, and complexity analysis
Good written and verbal communication skills
The following are considered a plus:
Previous code contributions to open source projects
Familiarity with Raspberry Pi programming
Familiarity with Fedora
