Collins Aerospace, an RTX company is a world leader in advanced communication systems and is responsible for providing systems to all branches of the US military. The Mission Systems Hardware Engineering Department is seeking a Senior Components Engineer to join our multi disciplined team in Largo, FL or Marlborough, MA location. Mission Systems Engineering leads the mechanical and electrical hardware design, development and production of DoD and Government Communications Systems. Responsibilities include working as a team member with a concentration in the mechanical and electrical design of circuit cards and required housings for communications systems.

The Senior Components Engineer will ensure that all aspects of Parts Control and Standardization Plans are implemented and executed. The Senior Components Engineer shall be capable of reviewing datasheets and comparing technical characteristics of commercial off the shelf (COTS) components and providing recommendations of potential alternate part replacements. The Senior Components Engineer will generate piece part documentation of various forms for procurement purposes; submit required program reports; develop and implement a Parts Control Plan. The Senior Components Engineer will also provide Parts Obsolescence support including leading investigations on obsolescence issues, may participate in trade studies, determination of best mitigation approaches, and implementation of risk mitigation approaches. The Senior Components Engineer will drive the technical obsolescence mitigation process for a program, keeping detailed action logs updated with rationale for the technical approach and may direct or oversee tasks of some members of the team. The Senior Components Engineer candidate will have a good understanding of detailed mechanical/electrical design layouts and design documentation using Computer Aided Design tools. The Senior Components Engineer will have financial reporting responsibilities, including periodic earned value inputs, workload planning, and support proposals as required. Some travel may be needed for installation and design verification.

Qualifications You Must Have • Background in components engineering, including guiding component selection • Broad based Mechanical / Electrical Hardware engineering background • Travel up to 5% required • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer • Understanding of Tin Whisker Risk, Gold Embrittlement Risk, and experience with Tin Whisker / Gold Embrittlement Mitigation Plans for military applications • Experience analyzing alerts from GIDEP.org and determining technical impact to programs • Working knowledge of Windchill Product Data Manager • Working knowledge of use of Valor, Mentor Graphics, Cadence, Allegro, ADS • Working knowledge of Raytheon EDM Parts Library Tools

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
