The Scientist 2 , R&D, Innovation characterizes, designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs advanced imaging solutions for next-generation breast imaging modalities. This role entails collaboration with scientists and engineers to apply technical proficiency and scientific creativity to pioneering medical imaging solutions, with an emphasis on optimizing image quality and clinical workflow. Contributes to the strategic exploration of novel image acquisition geometries, reconstruction algorithms, and system configurations aimed at enhancing image resolution, contrast, and artifact reduction. Conducts simulations, computational modeling, and image analysis to investigate the dependency of image quality and validate performance improvements. Develops tools and test methodologies to evaluate prototype systems and facilitate technology transfers. Participates in clinical trials and the development of patent applications. Leverages broad expertise in breast imaging physics, computational methods, and prototype development to investigate new concepts and drive product innovation.

What To Expect:

The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.

  • Investigate advanced image acquisition methods and system configurations through computational modeling, simulations, and image analysis to enhance image quality.

  • Design and implement algorithms for geometric calibration, image reconstruction, and artifact correction to improve the performance of breast imaging systems.

  • Conduct comprehensive image quality evaluations using relevant metrics.

  • Developing requirements for key system performance parameters as they relate to image/signal quality, system safety, performance, and calibration.

  • Participate in exploration and evaluation of novel imaging technologies, modalities, and clinical workflows to drive innovation in breast imaging and related fields.

  • Continuously explore and implement new technologies, algorithms, and best practices to enhance existing products and enable the development of cutting-edge healthcare solutions.

  • Engage in a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment, interfacing closely with other internal functions and external collaborators.

What We Expect:

  • PhD Degree in physics, biomedical engineering, or related field

  • Strong background in medical imaging physics, with a focus on breast imaging modalities such as digital mammography and tomosynthesis.

  • Expertise in image quality analysis, including spatial resolution, contrast, noise characterization, and artifact assessment.

  • Proficient in computational modeling, simulations, and image analysis techniques for optimization of image acquisition geometries and reconstruction algorithms.

  • Hands-on experience with prototype development, system integration, and performance characterization of medical imaging systems.

  • Understanding of multiple medical imaging modalities and clinical applications.

  • Solid programming skills and proficiency in relevant software tools

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $92,000 to $143,000 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
