Danaher Corporation Lead Cell Therapy R&D Scientist in Marlborough, Massachusetts

We are looking for a Lead Cell Therapy R&D Scientist to work with our expert Bio-engineering team of 50 employees across the world. Do you have a passion for Cell & Gene Therapies? Then we would love to hear from you.

What you’ll do

Lead biologist on cross-functional R&D teams for Cell & Gene Therapy manufacturing technology and device product development programs. Strategic planning through product development lifecycle planning. Innovative product design and biological evaluation test planning. Process optimization and technology development through multiple programs. Drive biology team execution through program achievements as part of larger global diverse and multi-disciplinary teams. Work closely with engineering groups to understand design impact on biological performance of devices.

Lead program biology teams in development roadmaps including study design, planning, execution, analysis, documentation, SOP preparation, reporting, and recommendation. Includes development of cell-based biological methods and assays for prototype testing within CAR T workflows. Identify, evaluate and recommend new and existing technologies to improve workflows.

Provide deep subject matter technical expertise including strategic guidance and training of technical staff as vital. Effective communication across the organization and leadership team. Lead global biology department in immunotherapy workflow troubleshooting. Work with leadership to identify and prioritize future project opportunities.

Engage commercial teams and external customers and partners to incorporate targeted product requirements into R&D. Strong English written and oral communication required.

Demonstrate continuous integrity, credibility, and positivity, and motivate others to do the same. Continuously grow and adapt in a fast paced field to keep yourself and the organization at the forefront of the cell and gene therapy and regenerative medicine fields.

Who you are

Ph.D., Master’s with 5+ proven ability, or Bachelor’s with 12+ years of experience with a degree in bio-engineering, chemical engineering, bioprocess, biotechnology, cell biology, or a related field.

Industry product development experience in biologics, medical devices, or devices. Preferential for cell and gene therapies.

Hands-on experience working with primary human blood-derived or stem cell cultures.

Expertise in one or more of the following areas: biomaterials, bioreactors, bioprocess development, cell or molecular biology, gene engineering, viral vectors, pluripotent stem cells and derived progeny, hematopoietic stem cells, immune cells, or mesenchymal stromal cells.

Experience in statistical design and analysis.

Familiarity with the applicable regulatory frameworks and requirements for cell and gene therapy and regenerative medicine, such as cGMP, ISO, or medical device development.

  • Independent, self-starter with excellent analytical skills and the ability to multitask and succeed in a team environment.

  • Confirmed initiative and the ability to deliver high quality outcomes.

  • Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency with computer productivity software (e.g. MS Office, Wrike, etc.) and a range of technical applications (e.g. JMP, FlowJo, Matlab, etc.).
