Mystic Valley students in Grades K-12 report to school in dress code and are in attendance for 200 days of instruction. The normal school day is 60 minutes longer than most traditional public schools. Job Summary
The Instructional Assistant is required to complete instructional tasks under the general supervision of a teacher and non-instructional tasks under the general supervision of the Director/Superintendent and/or Designee.
Responsibilities and Duties
Attend in Professional Development training provided by the school
Support daily classroom design established by the teacher
Group Work (while the teacher is presenting)
Reinforce learning posture (students are on task, attending, tracking, on the right page, etc.
Monitor students and make note for those not proficient or at mastery for teacher
Provide assistance to those students that are not at mastery
Independent Work
Monitor student work to ensure they understand and are following directions
Assist students by helping them locate answers and work out problems
Check, record, and/or grade.
Work Check
Assist students with correcting their work
Note students who have not completed work
Check, record, and/or grade
Assist with monitoring paired reading activities
Assist with administering checkouts or retests per teacher
Teach reading, language, math, reasoning and writing, and/or spelling groups as assigned
Support teacher through daily activity schedule
Listen to directions given by teacher and quietly redirect students who need support
Pass out tickets or follow system by teacher to help students follow directions
Participate in the assigned morning, lunch/recess and afternoon bus duties
Attend ?Back to School Night? and open houses
Attend other mandatory after-school events
Perform all duties designated by schedule assigned by the lead or classroom teacher
Perform additional duties stated by other members of the Leadership Team
Support the Assertive Discipline behavior management system
Support and adhere to School Policies and rules
Complete (if designated) peer practice sessions for half an hour each week
Complete (if teaching a group) four progress reports and four report cards for all students in the academic group(s) for each school year
