    Position Overview: The Staff Accountant will work with the Controller and the fiscal staff to ensure proper accounting, internal/external financial reporting and internal control of the Agency in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    Position Responsibilities: Assist the Controller in the monthly closing of the Agency's books. Perform general ledger accounting and month-end accounting functions including preparing and posting journal entries and preparing reconciliation spreadsheets to support month-end results. Monthly review of income and expense accounts to ensure accurate reporting by department. Record monthly intercompany transactions and account allocations. Assist in the annual audit process as needed. Analyzes departmental income statements on a monthly basis and researches and identifies any significant deviations from prior periods and budgetary amounts providing explanations for such.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance

  • Must be able to apply knowledge of accounting and finance

  • Must assume responsibility for accuracy and timeliness of work product

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Office

  • Knowledge of GAAP as they relate to the Not-for-Profit Sector

    Hours 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
