    Position Overview : The Social Worker/Protective Service Advocate is responsible for investigating reports of abuse of the elder and coordinating appropriate protective service plans, crises support, and compliance with protective service mandates.

    Position Responsibilities: Receives and reviews intake reports regarding the abuse of elderly persons. Responds to emergencies when necessary with supervisory support. Evaluates the functional capacity, home situations, and resources of the abused elderly persons, or assist in arranging for evaluations including competency evaluations if needed. Completes thorough investigation of abuse allegations, risks to elders and elder's needs. Pursues legal counsel and/or advice to obtain necessary legal action such as protective orders and guardianship through the courts.. Provides education to the community and other service providers on elder abuse mandates and issues.

    Qualifications:

    *Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, required

    *Previous firsthand experience dealing with high risk/crisis situations preferred, previous knowledge and/or work experience in the Case Management or Behavioral Health field required

    *Knowledge of community resources preferred

    *Ability to make proper judgments, good written and verbal skills, and ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff members, consumers, and partners

    *Ability to actively participate in interdisciplinary team environment, critical thinking, solid communication and assessment skills are a necessary function of the position

    • Proficiency with Windows based Software, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

    *Professional demeanor & ability to handle confidential materials with discretion

    *Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license

    *Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus

    Hours 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with the possibility of a 4 day work week.
