Eliot Community Human Services Clubhouse Vocational Coordinator in Lowell, Massachusetts

Eliot is currently seeking a candidate with experience providing vocational counseling and vocational development with people with mental illnesses. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with concepts and implementation of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) as well as Clubhouse-model Transitional and Supported employment.

Eliot’s Behavioral Health Division provides an integrated and comprehensive network of services to adults with psychiatric disabilities that are evidence based, provide rehabilitation and hope to those in services. Eliot is known for our innovative clinical approach, high quality clinical training and for having the most talented people in community behavioral health services.

Salary Range $50,000 + commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with program members, supervisor, staff and community employers / resources to meet or exceed Dept. of Mental Health (DMH) program employment goals (minimum 26% of program membership employed in community-based jobs).

  • Meet with all members interested in employment individually to gather employment history, job preferences, strengths and challenges, current entitlements, transportation resources, preferred supports, identify intermediary steps towards employment goal, and resume creation / updating.

  • Provide assistance with member job training / coaching as needed that is in alignment with employer specifications. Provide supervision to other clubhouse staff who are engaged in member job training to insure consistency.

  • Facilitate weekly “Job Club” group for members who are working or seeking employment that covers topics including: Career exploration; job interviewing skills; SSA Work Incentives and reporting; building a resume; applying for jobs online; how to utilize job finding sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Snag a Job; job keeping skills / problem solving etc.

  • Work in partnership with Northeast Employment Collaborative (NEEC), local Chambers of Commerce, Career Centers, MRC, Clubhouse Advisory Board, Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition and other organizations to network and develop job leads for members served.

  • Facilitate weekly “Workers Night” employment support meeting and dinner (Mondays 4 – 6pm).

  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with member employers by demonstrating understanding of their business needs, prompt response to issues or problems with members on the job and recognition of the positive role they play in member’s success / recovery.

  • Provide ongoing / as needed support / check-in with working members to ensure their success. Note and report any member job changes such as pay rate, hours worked, job title for DMH reporting purposes with Assistant Director.

  • Partner with Work Without Limits representative for all members who have obtained employment through the club for Ticket To Work candidacy.

  • Assist and teach members about SSA work activity reporting and provide benefits counseling when applicable.

Schedule: Tuesday-Friday 8:00-3:00 with one of those days being a late day from 12:00pm-7:00pm. Late day can be flexible for either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. (28 hrs/week)

Bonus Breakdown:

  • Completion of one month's employment: $1,500

  • Completion of 6 months' employment (probationary period): $1,500
