Health Inspector The Longmeadow Board of Health is seeking a FT Health Inspector: 40 hours per week. Position is responsible for administering state and local health and environmental codes, laws, and policies, including various MA Department of Public Health and MA Department of Environmental Protection regulations, the policies and regulations of the Board of Health, and other state and local regulations that protect public health of the residents of Longmeadow, and communities comprising the Eastern Hampden Shared Public Health Services (EHSPHS). Successful candidate must have: Knowledge of state sanitary codes, including food sanitation, sub surface sewage, septic, and all other Commonwealth Health and Environmental laws and codes; knowledge of engineering concepts in relation to wastewater; knowledge of related federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. Ability to conduct field inspections; ability to manage and supervise employees effectively; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to maintain good public relations and effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials, and the general public; ability to meet deadlines; ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment. Ability to learn new software as needed. Proven interpersonal skills, customer-service skills, and problem-resolution skills; must possess organizational skills and be detail oriented. Proficient in use of computer programs including Microsoft Office and Google Suites, email, and internet. Bachelor\'s degree in Environmental Science, Food Science or related field, and 5 to 7 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Certified food service manager, certified pool operator, soil evaluator and a registered sanitarian. CPO, CP-FS, ES or RS. Valid Driver\'s license required.
