The Global Nucleic Acid Therapies area strives to be a global leader in nucleic acid therapeutics by developing innovative technology platforms and molecules that translate into novel genetic medicines to improve patients' lives.

The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to help in our drug discovery efforts. This is a hands-on research position that requires strong expertise in molecular and cellular methodologies. The Senior Research Associate will be p articipating in shaping our overall research strategy and supporting numerous projects as a member of the Discovery Research team. Additionally, this person will be collaborating cross-functionally to promote efficient operations in a high-volume on-site laboratory and animal care facility.

Relationships

This position reports to the Senior Scientist.

Essential Functions

  • siRNA drug candidate screening, hit identification, and lead optimization, Cellular and molecular biology methodologies, e.g., mammalian cell culture; in vitro screening; cell-based assays RNA extraction and RT-qPCR

  • In vivo drug candidate testing (e.g. mouse dosing; sample analysis)

  • Work closely with GNAT research team members to quickly and effectively address critical questions related to the efficacy of our drugs

    Physical Requirements

    0-10% overnight travel required.

    Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent

  • 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience in an appropriate industrial or academic environment

  • Experience in cellular and molecular biology is essential (e.g., mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, quantitative real-time PCR)

  • Experience with RNAi is preferred; experience with in vitro screening is preferred

  • Experience with in vivo methodologies is highly preferred (e.g., mouse handling, subcutaneous injection, intravenous injection, sample analysis, histology)

  • Experience with RNAi and in vitro screening is preferred

  • The individual should have strong oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to group projects in a team-oriented environment

  • The ability to perform and interpret experiments reliably, and to advance projects aggressively towards defined goals is expected
