The NAN Project is seeking a passionate candidate to join our small, fast-growing team that works to change the conversation around mental health. The DYS Programming Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing a new and growing program of The NAN Project, namely, working with and training court involved youth to create stories of hope and resilience which they will share to young adults both within DYS and youth serving programs. The goal of these stories is to divert youth from the court system and provide guidance on clear supports for those who are involved in the judicial system to reduce recidivism. Just as important, the program will offer job skills training and employment opportunities for DYS youth that wish to use their stories of strength to support others .

Res p onsibili ties:

  • Facilitating and leading training and team-building activities for Peer Mentors from DYS programs.

  • Creating a Peer Mentor training specifically for court involved youth.

  • Scheduling young adult Peer Mentors who will work with DYS programs and other youth serving organizations for upcoming trainings / events.

  • Ensuring correct paperwork for DYS Peer Mentors (CORI, employment contract, etc.)

  • Maintaining a database containing all contact information, attendance/participation records, etc. for DYS Peer Mentor trainees.

  • Preparing content and materials for workshops, trainings, presentations, or community events, including providing QPR training (after certification).

  • Creating and presenting your Comeback Story to audiences including, DYS youth, court involved young adults, high school students, etc.

    Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Personal experience within the judicial system preferred.

  • Training and experience as a young adult peer mentor, recovery coach, peer worker and/or working with court involved transition age youth, especially around mental health education highly preferred.

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills; public speaking experience a plus, as is having Spanish or other secondary language skills.

  • Must be well organized, attentive to detail, team player and have a sense of humor.

  • Knowledge and ability to use Excel, Google Drive, Word, MailChimp, Canva, and Wordpress.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm with some flexibility. Based at Lexington headquarters and requires travel at least 3 days per week.

COMPENSATION: $45,000-$60,000 depending on experience
