Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Lincoln Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) chartered to develop advanced technology in support of national security. Research and development activities focus on long-term technology development, as well as rapid system prototyping and demonstration. These efforts are aligned within key mission areas of Biotechnology & Human Systems; Air, Missile & Maritime Defense Technology; Homeland Protection & Air Traffic Control; Cyber Security & Information Sciences; Communication Systems; Engineering; Advanced Technology; Space Systems & Technology; and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) & Tactical Systems. The Laboratory works with government and industry to transition new concepts, technology and prototypes into future system development and deployment.

Position Description

A Leadership Development Program has been created to train individuals for future careers within the Contracting Services Department at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. The Department strives to provide optimal contracting solutions through guidance, service, and partnership, to further the Laboratory mission of advancing technology for national security. Program participants will have a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills while honing their technical expertise in the procurement and contracting profession. These individuals will receive formal mentoring, on-the-job training, structured coursework, and will rotate through sections of the Contracting Services Department, as well as other key organizations in the Laboratory. The program is designed to last approximately three years. The participant would then be considered for a role within the Contracting Services Department that fits the individual’s talents, interests, and the Department’s organizational requirements.

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications

This is a position for highly motivated individuals who have a strong affinity for working across the diverse set of requirements within the field of contracting.

Requirements

• Three years of experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Law, or a relevant discipline; Master's degree is a plus

• Ability to obtain contracts management certificate as part of the program

  Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated teamwork and leadership capabilities and a desire to grow professionally

• Relevant experience in contracting

• Detail-oriented mindset with excellent organizational and time management abilities

• Strong interest in candidate pursuing a graduate degree (if participant does not have one already)

• Proficiency using MS Office Suite of applications (Outlook email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Teams); Zoom; SAP and purchasing applications is a plus

• Superior verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

• Moderate understanding of contract principles, legal terminology, and risk management

• Familiar with a variety of contractual documents
