Advocates In-Home Support Staff- Female Only in Lexington, Massachusetts
The IHS (In-Home-Support Staff) is responsible to supervise the daily activities of individuals, providing ongoing support, guidance, and role modeling on a consistent basis. Facilitate individual growth in areas of personal responsibility, social skills, and community living skills. Promote community inclusion and self-advocacy.

Minimum Education Required
High School Diploma/GED
Report to shift on time ready to spend at least 95 percent of working hours in personal contact with individuals.
Collaborate with the individual, family members and program management, as part of the multidisciplinary team in providing support to individuals.
Participate in planning and implementation of daily & weekly activity schedule and daily routine for individuals.
Support individuals in their home and encourage individuals to become an active member of their community by actively seeking out integrated activities, opportunities for community participation and membership.
Assist individual in self-advocacy, decision-making and empowerment.
Provide ongoing support, guidance and role modeling for individuals.
Assist individuals to identify and develop person centered goals and plans to address any concerns, wants or needs they have
Prepare summaries of interaction and objective behavioral observations of clients at end of shift; complete clinical notes and data collection using Microsoft Outlook
Lift and transfer individuals as needed.
Complete all notes, documents and reporting according the established Agency deadlines and expectations
Provide transportation as needed. Transportation may require the use of staff’s personal vehicle; mileage will be reimbursed.
Attend and actively participate in all trainings as assigned; maintain current necessary certifications.
Report significant issues, health, behavioral, psychiatric etc in a timely fashion in accordance to Division expectations. Document issues/incidents according to agency and division guidelines
Perform physical intervention in the event of a client crisis.
Attends and actively participates in supervision and staff meetings.
Adhere to all principles related to the Advocates Way.
Ensure that clients are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates' Human Rights Policy.
Perform all duties in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures.

High School diploma or GED. Experience with the program population is preferred.
Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations
High energy level and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and ability to use good judgment.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
Sensitivity to the needs of the individuals we support
Commitment to providing a clean homelike environment for the individuals.
Must hold a valid drivers’ license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport individuals.
Ability and willingness to operate agency vehicles.
Strong computer knowledge.
Flexibility to work throughout the division
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
