MIT Lincoln Laboratory Group 101 - Systems and Architectures: Systems Administrator CO-OP Student (July-December) in Lexington, Massachusetts
The Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Systems and Architectures Group performs analysis to develop future concepts and architectures for executing the most challenging missions of the Department of Defense (DoD). Studies within the group cover a broad range of technical areas including advanced sensor systems, new platforms, communications, navigation solutions, and data exploitation approaches. The group works directly with DoD senior leadership to understand their needs and briefs leadership regularly to inform future technology investments. Concepts developed within the group can lead to data collections, engineering design studies, technology development, and prototyping projects within MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
Job Description
The Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Systems and Architectures Group is seeking a co-op student to assist the group’s systems administrators with daily management tasks to support our analysis environment. They will work under the supervision of a senior systems administrator to assist in building and maintaining the computing and network infrastructure in an unclassified and classified environment, providing IT support to the analysts as needed. Due to the nature of the work, this is an on-site position.
Candidate will be expected to:
Support a heterogeneous network of Windows, Macintosh, and Linux workstations
Diagnose computer problems, image new devices, and support peripheral devices such as printers/copiers
Review ACAS vulnerability scans and remediate open findings
Interface with the end users and satisfy their requests
Present weekly progress/issues to senior IT staff and group leadership
Requirements:
Must be familiar with Windows, Macintosh, and Linux operating systems, being able to diagnose and solve software and hardware problems
Must have familiarity with networking concepts and understanding of TCP/IP
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in a relevant field and/or area of study such as Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems
Must have at least completed Sophomore year
Must have active Secret security clearance
Minimum GPA: 3.0 preferred
Desired Skills:
Certificate for one of the following: Security +, A+, Networking +, Linux +, Server+ (Other related certs would be considered)
Previous IT work experience
Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
